Thanks seems inadequate for the many healthcare workers who continue to sacrifice their own health and time with their families to help those afflicted with coronavirus. There also doesn’t seem to be enough thanks for the countless others who have stepped up during this time. I wish I could say I was one of them, but sadly, I am clearly not essential and I can shelter in place at home.
I made cards to give healthcare workers, which includes more than just doctors and nurses. There are many folks in healthcare who never get proper respect for their contributions. So for all the registration folks who greet the patient and have that initial contact, the ones who are doing the virus screening, THANK YOU! For the EVS folks who have to clean their rooms and do the laundry, THANK YOU! For the techs, orderlies, chaplains, volunteers, nutrition services, IT, and the many others who aren’t doctors or nurses but are essential to hospital operations, THANK YOU!
Also, many thanks to Police, Fire, EMS, Truck Drivers, Farmers, Grocery Stores, Convenience Stores, and other supply chain workers. Thank you for keeping it going and protecting folks at the same time. I wish I had cards to give everyone. Please know you are loved and appreciated, even if we forget to tell you.
We are all in this together – but seriously, some more than others. If you aren’t essential, then do your part – and stay the $%^&*( home!
